Mako IS A LOS ANGELES-BASED FILM EDITOR WORKing IN BOTH FICTION AND NON-FICTION GENRE.  

she edited "MUDBOUND" which, after premiering at 2017 sundance film festival, went on to win four nominations for the 90th academy awards: "Best supporting actress," "best cinematography," "Best adapted screenplay" and "best original song."  the film is CURRENTLY available on NETFLIX.

Mako Kamitsuna

Born in Houston, Texas, and hailed from Hiroshima, Japan, Mako is a graduate of Columbia University (BA Philosophy) and NYU Graduate Film Program (MFA Film).   She is also an alumnae of AFI's Directing Workshop for Women (DWW).    

Mako was chosen as one of 25 emerging filmmakers to participate in Toronto Int'l Film Festival's Talent Lab in 2012.  Her short film THE LULL BREAKER was one of the "Top Five Finalists" at 2013 RBC Emerging Filmmakers Competition sponsored by TIFF.  Her other shorts are: SHE, WHO EXCELS IN SOLITUDE, a period drama about little known history of "Mercury 13" and KATYA, about a cold war nuclear disaster of a Soviet submarine K-129 in 1968.  The feature-length version of KATYA is currently in active development.
